Hello everybody! Welcome to the 8th development update of Iconia Defenders!
In today's post, I'm going to talk about one of the features we were working on in the past, they are already available in the game, but is good to talk in retrospective and how it changed over time.
Player's hand
Let's start with the "Player's hand". The player's hand is where the cards that you can play appears. At the left of the "Deck button".
Originally, the player's hand was very stale. All the cards were blue, walls' shapes were hard to distinguish. And we didn't have a "Discard Pile". As you can see in the following picture:
Before
Animations were also very basic...
We made many improvements on this feature, not only because it is one of the main components of the game, but also thanks to the feedbacks we received from the community.
- We added new artwork for the wall cards, so now you can distinguish the different shapes, amount of walls and size. Also, we wanted them to look pretty.
- We defined colors for each kind of card that you can play. Spells are pink, towers are blue, walls are brown, and curses are red.
- In addition to that, we added a "Discard Pile" button at the left.
- We also added and improved the animations. Juicy it up a bit. Added screen shakes, and sounds.
After
Sorry for the gif quality :)
Another feedback we received was about "knowing" which cards are in the deck and which ones are in the Discard Pile.
And, since we now have a Discard Pile button, we added an "onClick" feature that displays the following modal:
It will tell you how many cards are in your Discard Pile, as well as how many are on your deck. You can also see the cards in your hand below it.
Also, if you hover over the cards in the modal, you will be able to see their details. Like the stats for the towers, spell descriptions, price, etc.
All of this was made possible thanks to the community feedback, we are all upgrading the game together, and if you are not a member of our Discord yet, what are you waiting for? Come and participate with all of us to make iconia Defenders an even greater game!

Thanks for reading!! God bless you all and have a wonderful week!
