intial test of the "thrust vanes space drone"
this vehicle as with all tests is probably a little overpowered. There are some differences in handling between gimballed thrusters and vane thrusters. Vanes appear to better preserve straight forward thrust while under handling. while gimballed thrusters are at full tilt, (for roll mostly, as while turning it is less noticeable anyway) they do not contribute as much to forward acceleration, as the entire thrust is aimed at up to 45 degrees. With the vanes craft, however, the vanes in total only cover about 1/4 of the surface area of the thruster, so rotation costs less of the forward thrust. (the thruster remains pointed in a fixed position throughout.)
Of course my own personal knowledge of the vehicle type as it applies to my ability to "accurately simulate" the correct amount of lift and drag generated by the thrust vanes is very limited. My rough approximation will likely be subjected to some degree of tuning and then ultimately need to be rebuilt as I learn more, but the basic mechanic of using the vanes to redirect thrust should result in the same basic rotations that this vehicle will give you based on input. (so although this is not a good simulation, it IS a correct "game")
