Welcome to a slightly shorter than normal news update. The whole team is focused on preparing a very exciting new build for all GameGuru users that will add new levels of functionality and open up the engine by introducing the start of 3rd person game creation. We'll be expanding on this feature in weeks and months to come, as we're sure you're all aware, this is a massive area of game making and one that we will want to do full justice to.
As well as continuing work on 3rd person play, we are now putting the finishing touches to the Character Creator as well as introducing a new tutorial system built into GameGuru itself. As you can see from this screenshot, the Character Creator is now fully integrated into GameGuru and we’re just running some final tests at the moment.
From the Gallery
As you’ll know, every week we browse the galleries, looking at the amazing work of our community.
From gallery artist Geistschatten, Alien Desert uses a mix of store and custom media to excellent effect.
This very atmospheric screen from JC_Leon shows some excellent use of lighting.
Competition News
Recently we ran two competitions and the results for the 1st one (The Great Outdoors) are now in. We had a difficult time judging – in the end we decided that all valid entries were so good, that everyone should win!
We'll publish a complete list on the forums soon, but if you entered a small map for the competition you will win $50, and all large maps entered will win $100. We've also chosen a selection of the winners to have their maps included in the next build of GameGuru and these will be featured as tutorial levels, showcasing GameGuru as well as the amazing talent of our community. Don't worry if your level wasn't chosen for inclusion, but we simply didn't have room for every one of them and wanted to include a wide selection of designs as possible.
Store News
Last week in the gallery we featured this screenshot by store artist Lafette.
We’re very pleased to announce that he has finished this pack and it is on full release now. Click here to see the full pack of 47 high quality GameGuru ready media for inclusion in your levels.
