It has been a week of two halves, with equal parts testing and feature additions. The two big features added are called Interactive Tutorial Mode and Third Person Controls, the later still in development at the moment. The new tutorial system helps new Game Guru users understand things like loading scenes, adding and editing entities, as well as test game and saving a standalone executable. The system will also be expanded in future builds to cover more of the features available and should provide a great way to quickly learn existing and new toys as they are released.
The bulk of the work however has been on the testing and tweaking, and during these marathon test sessions levels are created that can sometimes look pretty cool. The red screen shot above is a level that made great use of fog color and bloom to create a high contrast visual.
We also saw some new content for a forthcoming DLC produced, and I managed to snag a quick shot of one of the buildings to be featured. I personally cannot wait to get to the top of those steps and collect my ancient treasure!
Another DLC project also bore fruit in the form of new soldiers sporting a more colorful uniform yet retaining the full range of weapons you will surely need to populate your combat zones.
The work proceeds on the third person control system and I am looking forward to having a major build for you all next week (or perhaps the week after), which I can assure you will be something very special for many reasons, not least because it will feature the long awaited Character Creator and many many surprises. I would also like to thank those of you who posted positive reviews of Game Guru in the Steam Reviews section as it really helps us spread the word and enable more users to discover the fun of creating games. Have a great weekend and I look forward to making some cool announcements next week!
