Happy Friday! The weather cools, the Sun sets earlier and the end of August approaches. As the seasons change, so too does Second Half Games ramp up in the last months before release.
Closed alpha playtesting continues, and we'd love to have you join us! See our Discord for more!
View game pageLast time, we exhibited some shocking behaviour and fundamental changes to core gameplay.
This week, we're doing vandalism and self-improvement!
Florida IX, the Galaxy's Trash Heap
It's no secret — Florida IX is kind of a disaster, but that doesn't mean its former residents didn't have something to say about it! Our Florida IX billboard has a new look!
I said they were vocal — not eloquent!
Now With 16x the Articulation
Okay, fine — it's now been three issues in a row where I've shown off progress on the player character. Initially, I thought about maybe not showing it off again, but then two bigger, better thoughts came up:
The player character is kind of a big deal and you spend literally the entire game staring at it — get used to seeing it.
The player character looks frickin' sick.
With kneepads like this, maybe there's still time to make a skating game instead.
And JOINTS! Our limbs aren't held up by telekinesis anymore!
UI Updates
Jack told me he's updating a lot of our UI, but that he didn't think it'd make for great viewing. I think he's wrong, and I have this image from a few weeks ago to prove it.
Please only view with appropriate eye protection.
As Jack said: Now you can have a theme that reflects your true love for Second Half!
That was just a little change to our editor UI a while back (remember: we are releasing with a full-fledged level editor!), but in general all the game's UI is undergoing a much needed tuning!
Looking Ahead
The player character should soon be finalised, the UI changes are looking good, and a lot of bug fixes have gone through to reduce general jank and instability.
The MOST exciting thing though is that we should have a brand new trailer for you guys very soon!!!
