Hello, this is Shierin from Hyoukan Studio!
This is an announcement about the update to the trial version we previously announced.
The latest trial version is Ver1.14. If the version name does not appear on the title screen, please update or reinstall the game.
...In fact, we were adding an achievement feature for the update.
Because of this, we received contact about bug reports during the development period, and secretly released a version that was in development.
New users who started playing the game after January 24th are already playing a build equivalent to Ver. 1.14.
The update contents are listed below.
- Add scenario In the version before January 23rd, it was possible to play up to partway through Chapter 2. However, with this update we will be releasing all of Chapter 2 and one bad ending. This will allow you to experience the unique features of Knight Case Files.
- We recommend you replay the demo!
- Improved graphics The standing portrait graphics of some characters have been revised. Background graphics have been added.
- english translation English was not implemented in the trial version, but it has been added in this update! Due to development reasons, some parts are machine translated. This will be corrected in the final version.
- Add achievements Added achievements that can be unlocked in the trial version.
Knight Case Files is an indie visual novel game planned and produced by Hyoukan Opera, a team of Japanese scenario writers and illustrators.
With the help of Kaguya Project's English publishing, I am now working on my long-awaited English version! If you find any strange English, please let me know and I will correct it.

Let me explain why I wanted to release an English version this time.
It's because I thought, "Maybe overseas users would like our work too."
As a scenario writer, I have experience writing game scenarios (Japanese originals translated into other languages) for overseas publishers, and I have also worked on multilingual translated novel games. Thankfully, the scenarios I created were well-received, and I even received requests for additional work.
While I was receiving praise for the work I was writing, I had a feeling that "Japanese traditional works are popular (*refers to works that are not influenced by trends, not trendy works)" and "In today's Japan, there is a demand for works that companies have stopped making due to cost constraints and trends."
This may have been the case then and it may be that it's still the case now, but I'm not the kind of scriptwriter who can jump on the bandwagon and write on impulse (my writing speed is normal, so the trend will die out by then), so I find it difficult to survive in the commercial world.
...If that's the case, I thought it would be best to make it well and have people evaluate it, so I decided to make a game out of the Knight Case Files series, which is one of the masterpieces of my creative career.
So I started looking for a way to translate it into English and promote it. That's when I came across Kaguya Project.
Knight Case Files is one of the signature works of scenario writer and novelist Kouki Shiwasu (Shierin). I am pleased to have the opportunity to spread it to a wider audience through the translation of the game.
I'm a writer who specializes in dark, serious, emotionally charged, and obsessive works like "Knight Case Files," and refreshing teen romantic comedies like "Koi Moyou."
I believe in the words of Kaguya Project and those who gave me feedback at game exhibitions, and I will not erase the style and attention to detail that I have received praise for, but will continue to brush up on the text until the very last minute of the writing period before releasing the game.
