Thank you!
Hello everyone, SUNSfan and Jenkins here!
First off, thank you SO much to everyone who has played the game this week. It’s been an unforgettable experience for us, and we are incredibly grateful to all the people who have played our baby and left us a review.
We were speechless (and crazy excited) when Forbes.com described Relic Arena as “the best auto battler [they’ve] ever played”.
Having said that, as an indie company that is completely self-funded, we know we are not perfect and are trying our best to learn as much as possible and improve the way we do things in the future.
This week, we have been relatively stable around 1,000 daily peak concurrent players. The community has been SUPER active, supportive, and helpful to each other on our Reddit and Discord. It’s been a surreal experience to see you all explore the thing that we pumped our blood, sweat, and tears into over the last 3 years.
Among the discussion, there has been a lot of really excellent feedback, so we wanted to talk a bit about the stuff we’re doing in the future.
Update 1.1
The following are some things you can expect to see in our first sizable patch since release. Expect this to drop later this week!
Buffing Leader Token rewards and Battlepass XP rewards, especially when you don’t place high in lobbies
Changes to make the store / monetization better and more fair. This was way overcalibrated at the start (that’s on me — Jenkins)
Reduced cringe levels in the tutorial (this was turning people away – there will be more history jokes and less bullying of the player). Also, we reduced the duration of the tutorial for people who have played auto-battlers
Optimizing servers for regions that have issues with packet loss / connecting to our servers
Lots of balance changes (sorry Tesla Coil + Snake abusers)
We currently have Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian language support. We are working on getting more languages translated with a focus on Chinese & German.
And much more!
Open Community Tournament
On May 30-31, we will be running a Community Tournament where we will crown the very first official Relic Arena competitive champion (and give them some juicy loot)! Sign up now as the slots will be limited! We hope to see some crazy never-before-seen strategies come out.
Update 1.5
In mid June we are releasing patch 1.5, which will include a couple of new leaders and several new relics to spice up the meta. This will be a standard mid-season patch that we will try and emulate down the road.
We also have some other surprises planned, but we won’t spoil those here. You’ll just have to wait and see!
Beyond
Our first season is 4 months with the hope to make them 3 in the future. Keep in mind that once the season is over, any Leaders that are a part of the current Battlepass will join the regular pool of Leaders to unlock for everyone. Consider this first season our beta test. We will learn from the things we’ve done poorly (and well!) and make sure each following season is more epic than the last!
All-in-all, we are super happy with how things went with our launch and are excited to continue pouring our energy and love into the game. Thank you for giving us this opportunity!
Love,
SUNSfan & Jenkins
PS: There will be a special event on May 27th. Can you guess what it is?
