Greetings, Star Seekers! 🌟
In our whimsical world, your briefcase isn’t just for carrying supplies—it’s a powerful tool filled with unique abilities to help you on your journey. Today, we’re diving deep into the feature that makes your briefcase truly special: its skill-granting powers!
Many of our playtesters loved the idea of carrying a personal dimension around, so we designed the entire progression system around it. Instead of gathering experience or skill points through typical game activities, we thought it’d be more fun to tie progression to exploring, gathering, and building. That’s how we developed the concept of Skillbuildings: structures you build in your Briefbase that grant you new abilities.
For example, you can set up a whimsical Puff Propeller on one of your islands and enlist some friendly Honey Bees to power it. Don’t worry, they’re happy to help!
Then, use it to reach previously inaccessible areas in the outer world!
Everything in To the Star is designed to interact with other mechanics, so you can even use abilities like the Puff Propeller in combat—on yourself, your friends, or even some lightweight enemies. Don’t be surprised if you end up capturing a silly GIF like this:
Other abilities available through this system include a local vortex for sucking in objects and creatures, the grappling hook tongue, a treasure-seeking radar, a helping hand, and more! Besides active skills, you’ll also unlock passive hero abilities and base buffs. And just wait until we reveal the ultimate abilities—unlocked once all the prerequisites are in place. We’ll dive deeper into those in a future update!
What briefcase ability would you love to see in the game?
We’d love to hear from you! Share your ideas and let us know which power you're most excited to unlock. Stay tuned for more updates on To the Star and continue exploring the whimsical wonders of this enchanting world!
