Modding Branch
Alongside today's update, I've released a build of The Local intended for modding. THIS IS NOT WORKSHOP SUPPORT!!! If you want to make and play mods, your best bet is to switch to the modding branch. You can do so by:
- Right clicking The Local in you're library and pressing "Properties"
- Navigating to the "Betas" tab
- Open the "Beta Participation" drop down which will currently say "None"
- Select the "modding1.0.0" branch
- Press update or launch the game to update
This next bit is specifically for modders. If you don't intend on creating mods, just skip down and you'll find the typical patches notes.
Why is this different?
The main branch is built using Unity's IL2CPP backend which is much harder to mod for. This branch is built using the Mono backend. This version of the game also has leaderboard uploads disabled, and the code for doing so entirely removed, for... obvious reasons.
How often will this be updated?
Whenever I feel necessary. It definitely won't be often, and mostly just after major updates. Whenever a new version is released, it will release as a new branch in case of compatibility issues. Modded builds also use MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH version numbering rather than the DAY.MONTH.YEAR versioning used on the main builds.

Movement
- Made the initial attachment to rails less aggressive
Other
- When the game is loading, it will now run the in the background to prevent unfocusing from interrupting the loading process. Once you reach the titlescreen, it will behave as it did prior to this update
- Fixed a bug where saving a Zen Snapshot in the Bootcamp course and then loading it would result in spawning without the course geometry being enabled
- Fixed a bug where viewing older Timed leaderboard snapshots would change the rank displayed on the respective route card
- Fixed a bug where the F.P.S.D.T. snapshot wasn't readable under certain conditions
