ATTENTION ALL SERVONAUTS
The playable demo has been updated with brand new quality of life features - and new stuff to smash!!
- Simpler controls! We’re really excited to get these out. Playtest data shows a huge improvement.
- Auto-swap: it’s now a simple matter to plug a pipe in where there’s already something attached - you’ll simply swap ‘em out.
- You can now grab and throw all the stuff around in the Servonauts’ RV between levels?! (We couldn’t believe how many people asked for this feature…)
Alongside this update, we've given our Steam store page a fresh coat of paint, with new screenshots and a more concise and exciting description of the game. These changes are so important for an indie game pre-release, and were based on feedback from players. We'd love to hear more from you all, so please don't hesitate to jump into our Discord and tell us what you think of the game!
Now, we’d like to offer a bit of a teaser (we’ve been very busy behind the scenes). This public demo only has a subset of the full Servonauts experience - an aspect of the game we refer to internally as “managing mayhem”. We’re currently preparing to showcase the game at Gamescom Cologne 2024, where we’ll unveil a whole new set of features based around “building and logistics”. Soon you’ll be building and optimising each level’s gas station in addition to managing it.
We’ll leave you with the rest of the demo update changelog, followed by some screenshots.
- Simpler controls.
- Auto-swap held pipes with plugged or dropped ones.
- Grabbable clutter in the RV.
- Overhauled keyboard controls - we still recommend gamepad, but keyboard should at least be more intuitive than it was before.
- Updates to selection logic: it should now be more consistent and closer to user intention.
- Updated colours of orange and yellow fuels for improved visibility.
- Additionally changed colour of empty pipes to dull grey - it just makes sense!
- Brand new flow system for fuel networks.
- Overhaul of scoring in Quota Mode levels.
- Tweaks to the order + requests of cars across many levels.
- Player death VFX.
- Servonauts have a little animation for grabbing now.
- New set dressing and scatter visuals in each level… we're hinting at ~THE LORE~
- Updated World 2 skybox and clouds.
- Quicksand replaced with tar pits!
- Fixed issues with character IK and jittering.
- Fixed clipping in title screen Servonaut animation.
- Lots of performance optimisations.
Still here? Lucky you, we've snuck some teasers into the end of this post! Now, the changelog on our end is much longer than the list above, but the majority of it is super secret stuff for the Gamescom build. We have, however, managed to sneak just a few dot points past our bosses - remember these changes won't be in this demo, but they ARE coming down the pipeline:
- Implemented Orbital Destruction Laser
- New crude oil truck
- Added coin collector bot
That's all we have for you for now. 'Til next time!
-Louis
