Hello everyone,
I'm Solideo, a solo developer from Montreal, and I wanted to give you a big thank you for all the interest you've shown in my upcoming game, Sick Samurai. In just two weeks of being on Steam, we've already gotten 2000 wishlists!
For this project, I'm collaborating with a few people:
Artist Amanda Rey (https://amandarey.art/)
Animator Maria Rincon (https://mariarinconnav.com/)
Sound Designer Lorenzo Morselli (https://lorenzomorselli.webflow.io/)
The next step in development is to get a demo out there, and I expect to release that in about 3 months. The game's story is told in 3 acts, and the demo will contain the first half of the first act (4 gameplay levels and a few narrative scenes). I hope to make it as excellent of an experience for you as I can!
Outside of that, I will be posting regular updates on the game's development both here and on various other platforms (https://linktr.ee/solideo_games) on a bi-weekly or monthly basis.
This week, I've got two new major characters to introduce you to:
Dhalia, the first lady of the roster. Much like Jones, Dhalia grew up an orphan surviving on the streets of the island. As a woman in an underworld largely dominated by men, she learned to carry a ferocious attitude, and developed a reputation for unpredictability and, to put it crudely, craziness. Instead of joining a gang, she mostly worked alone, and made her living blackmailing the rich, criminal or otherwise. Those who cross her will learn of her expertise in poisons and explosives. If she teams up with somebody else, it’s almost always Jones – perhaps the only man in the underworld that she gets along with. We're grateful to have Dhalia on the team, as it was becoming a bit of a sausage fest – and speaking of sausages, that brings us to our next major character.
Samurai Gomen. Gomen is the first of the four samurai bosses you will challenge. Delusional about his superiority over others and incapable of admitting to a single flaw within himself. He carries himself with an unearned arrogance, but he is surprisingly kind, generous, and charismatic, so long as you aren't the target of his insults, mockery, and lecturing. He represses any show of genuine emotion, alternating between apathy and a fake cheerfulness. When challenged, he maintains an unsettling, silent calmness, but if pushed too far, he explodes with rage. And don't be fooled by his size – he moves much faster than you'd expect.
I'm excited to share more with you all soon!
Yours truly,
Solideo
