Steam Next Fest is nearly upon us! The demo has been out for a little bit now and is ready for Next Fest which is a couple weeks away. This month I'd like to officially announce:
Realms & Ruins: Abencor will release on July 28th, 2026. In a little under 2 months!
The final gameplay and polish passes are underway, but the game is largely ready to go and should be good for July 28th.
Here's what I've done over the past month or so:
Disabled the terminal window that appeared when launching the game.
Removed coin pickup items and now award gold directly when opening treasure chests.
Added a popup explaining how to interact with NPCs.
Fixed itch.io app compatibility so the game can now be launched directly through the itch app.
Updated Steam store screenshots.
Fixed several saving/loading issues that could occasionally softlock the player.
Fixed enemy spawning issues.
Fixed a player movement speed bug when disembarking from ships.
Fixed navigation and collision issues in the Snowy Fields and Volcano Dungeon.
Fixed an issue preventing the end-game sequence from triggering correctly.
Fixed multiple skill, spell, and equipment scripting errors.
Fixed item equip behavior that could accidentally drop items on the ground.
Fixed various quest, dialogue, projectile, animation, and sound-related bugs throughout the game.
Performed a complete weapon sound and animation pass, replacing placeholder effects.
Added missing sounds to more than 30 monsters and creatures.
Fixed creature attack animations and visual effects.
Completed a full animation review of NPCs, monsters, and interactive objects across the game world.
Added new rewards and treasure content for existing encounters.
Expanded the demo ending teaser into a full boss encounter for the main game.
Continued balancing and refining skills, spells, and combat systems.
