Yes, it took a little longer than expected, but it's finally here. LAST MINI BOSS COMPLETED. With this major stage completed, I can now focus on the final stretch of the game, which involves alternative game modes, a mission system for the main story, and a final final boss, among others. The "Informal Roadmap" that I mentioned in the last post will be explained in a simple and direct way: goals.
Now that I've managed to finish the last mini boss of the initial gameplay loop, I can calmly focus on the next stages, which will probably take longer to complete, namely:
MAIN STORY
It will be based on a mission system. It will be used exclusively to conclude the game's narrative. The player will have fixed objectives that they will have to complete during their game in order to unlock the main story route. The game's Final Boss will be completed together with the release of the story mode missions. Once the player finishes this part, there will be additional content in the location used to complete these missions.
OPTIMIZATION
I am aware of performance issues that we have encountered in the current state of the game, and so I intend to do a general review of the code for the entire combat part to identify the cause and make the game as optimized as possible. Better optimization means that a wider audience can enjoy the game, including players on portable devices such as the Steam Deck. As it stands at the moment, it runs with extremely fluctuating performance, hence my emphasis on this optimization part.
NEW GAME MODES
- New game modes. Considered so far, in addition to the current one of going to wave 100:
- Infinite Mode;
- Hardcore Mode;
- Darkness Mode;
The new game modes will be added as additional after the completion of other game priorities.
I won't give dates so as not to commit to deadlines I can't meet, but my goal is to at least have the main story completed by the end of December. I might finish it sooner, or I might finish it later. But I'll do my best to meet my estimate.
