Hi, my little clayodies. If you're returning to the Steam page after some time, then welcome back to New Day! I know it has been a month since the announcement of the overhaul project of the game that's supposed to revamp the UI, optimize the player experience, and bring in heavily requested features that the fans have been wanting for a while now. Trust me, we hear your pleas, and we plan to do everything we can to make this new experience bigger and better. We thank you for staying committed to New Day thus far. We really enjoy creating this game, so we hope you enjoy playing it!
Let's get into the previews of the overhauled project, shall we?
[ Islander Creator ]
The islander creator has been completely reworked for a better user experience. Buttons now have proper tooltips that don't take up half of your screen, the UI is consistent, and overall creating an islander just feels like a task again instead of a chore! Of course, you may notice that some buttons are missing, such as the Makeup and Facial Markings buttons, but those will be implemented here soon.
The first thing I'd like to show off is the ability to rotate your facial features. I know! This has been requested for so long now, but we couldn't do it. The Islander model needed a complete rework that the current version of New Day just wouldn't be able to handle. While rotating your facial features is cool and all, you can now also move, scale, and rotate your facial features individually from each other, instead of them moving as a grouped object! This will allow for better Clayody creation and more unique islanders to find on the workshop!
That's not all we've put into the new Islander Creator. We also now have voice types for your islanders. Instead of them all having the same voice, you'll now be able to select from multiple types of voices AND change the pitch of said voice as well! Cool, right? Of course, I can't show you what they sound like... but here's a picture of it!
The color wheels have also been updated, too! Instead of just having a regular, basic color wheel, you're now able to edit every single value! We think this will allow for players to color everything easier!
This is all I want to show off for the Islander Creator... for now. Let's move onto the island itself.
[ Island ]
As you may know, the current version of New Day has one island. An island that you can't even edit! Lame, right?! And the custom island you get that allows you to move islanders in with each other is just... a huge square... it's so uneventful. It's plain, boring, and dull. Nobody likes that in a game! Therefore... with the overhauled version of New Day... you'll now be able to create your OWN custom island! Take a look at the gifs below for previews on how this is done!
You're able to drag island pieces to build easier, and... create elevations! You can use the new stairs object to create an elevation on your island that your islanders WILL walk up! How neat!
You'll also be able to delete any island piece, even from the original island that you can get from the tutorial!
You can even move the buildings on your island!
Whew... that was a lot! Honestly, I think that's all I can reveal for now. We have tons and tons of plans for this new project, and I just wanted to share off a small portion of why this will be much better than the current version of New Day.
Thank you all for reading this post. Again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for sticking around with New Day.
...Until next time!
