What’s up FGC! Welcome back to another Invincible VS Dev Diary. We’re super excited to highlight the biggest brain in the multiverse and the third Fighter joining Invincible VS in our Year 1 Pass – Angstrom Levy. Check out more on the latest roster addition below!
Who is Angstrom Levy?
Angstrom Levy was a brilliant human with the ability to travel through different dimensions across the multiverse—but unfortunately, a horrific accident left him with all the memories of his alternate selves from every dimension and a gigantic, disfigured brain. Angstrom is unable to distinguish his own experiences from those of his multiversal counterparts, driving him to insanity. As a result, he is obsessed with exacting revenge on Invincible whom he blames for the accident and for crimes his variants have committed in other dimensions.
Design and Gameplay
Angstrom was an amazing opportunity and challenge for us. He was and has been on our minds since the beginning of the project, and has been a very high profile, ongoing request from the community.
We knew that his particular skill and powerset represented a variety of very unique challenges, and after dissecting all available appearances in the show and comic, trying to figure out how they translated into gameplay was very much a balancing act for us, especially considering we would require new tech to make it happen.
His whole kit revolves around his ability to create portals and summoning/commanding his orbs, and their potential for dynamic interactions during a match.
Creating tech for the portals and their interactions was a team effort to make sure the functionality and utility were creating new and interesting gameplay opportunities for Angstrom, while also thinking of creative solutions for elements which we couldn't quite bring to the table due to limitations. This took a lot of trial and error, as well as lots of iterations and tuning, but what we landed on is a very unique mechanic with fun and unexpected gameplay implications.
At its core, Angstrom's playstyle is centered around zoning, with a very strong emphasis on setups. His portals can be used defensively, offensively, as mobility options, as well as setups and traps. There are a lot of fun and interesting interactions, so seeing players experiment with what can go through a portal and its subsequent effect is going to be really fun to see.
Favorite moment was seeing Angstrom setup a portal as a space control element, but then surprise the opponent by then seeing the interaction that takes place when you send his ult through the portal 😉

Angstrom Levy portals into Invincible VS on October 13. We can’t wait to see all the big brain plays you all come up with when Season Two goes live. We’ll see you in the fight!
