There have been many updates in the last few weeks as the result watching game reviewers and creators play Secrets of the Witch House on social media, and I wanted to give some context to the patch notes I usually post.
No matter how much testing I do there is no substitute for watching a player in their own environment completely apart from the me, the developer.
Watching streams and videos I can only observe and absorb what is working and not working about the experience, what the player loves and dislikes, where they are confused or enthusiastic, and where they are having the most fun. It is the best game feedback there is and it gets used to make a galaxy of improvements that each move the game miles forward.
After watching these play-throughs and considering improvements, each update published seeks to:
- Optimize controls and interfaces.
- Adjust difficulty.
- Better communicate features.
- Address bugs.
- Improve enemy placement and combat flow.
- Improve camera features and control.
- Balance combat.
- Adjust the economy and reward systems.
- Adjust ammo/weapon pickups, frequency and quantity.
- Improve level designs.
- Improve AI pathing.
- Improve level generation.
And to just make more things go
BOOM.

That's why we're here really.
Thank you to all the creators and reviewers that have been a part of this. The game is better after each update because of your support and curiosity.
Sincerely,
The Warden
