Hey Explorers,
We know that some of you were worried that our stretch goal, NPC Settlements, will be scrapped because we didn’t reach it. Rest assured that this idea was not abandoned and might make a resurgence eventually - what’s more, today’s topic is directly related to content that was planned for it! Enjoy Studio proudly presents: currency and merchants.
Coins: Your Currency
Coins are the universal currency used to buy and sell items with merchants. They can be found scattered in dungeons, or received as payment when you offload your unwanted gear and resources.
Meet the Merchants
Throughout the world you’ll encounter a variety of specialist merchants, each with their own wares and interests.
Merchant | Favourite Items | Sells |
Innkeeper | Food & Drink | Hearty meals and ales |
Bowyer | Arrows & Bows | High‑quality bows & arrows |
Blacksmith | Ores & Ingots | Refined metals & tools |
Armorer | Armor scraps & plates | Protective gear & shields |
Weaponsmith | Weapons | Melee weapons |
Jeweler | Gems | Rings & necklaces |
Alchemist | Herbs & Vials | Potions & elixirs |
Herbalist | Wild herbs & mushrooms | Rare botanical ingredients |
Carpenter | Wood & Timber | Furniture & wooden items |
Blockcutter | Stone & Blocks | Building blocks |
Tailor | Cloth & Leather scraps | Clothes & fashion items |
Common Merchant | Miscellaneous resources | Everyday supplies |
They will buy everything, but pay considerably more for their favourite items!
Pricing Mechanics
Item Quality: Level, durability %, modifiers, and special effects all influence price.
Merchant Interest: Each merchant values certain categories more highly - this adjusts buying and selling rates.
Supply Limits: Merchants hold a finite amount of coins. Buying from you replenishes their funds; selling to them drains it.
Pro Tip: You can always repurchase items you’ve sold - but merchants charge a premium on buy‑back, so plan accordingly!
Merchants’ inventories and coin reserves reset and any sold‑out items vanish if you go too far from their location.
Loot vs. Shop Drops
Defeating a merchant in combat drops random loot related to their profession. For example, an Alchemist can drop any potion. However, items that they purchased from you are not part of their loot tables, so no bullying merchants to get your stuff back!
How to Trade
Approach a merchant and press Interact.
The trading window opens: your inventory is on the left, the merchant’s on the right.
Hover over any item to see its buying or selling price (if the merchant window is closed, you’ll see only the base price).
Click an item to buy or sell - it’s that simple! Coins and items transfer instantly.
