This is the biggest content update I made for the game. Thank you for the comments and reviews. It helped.
Big changes mean a lot of room for new bugs. Please join the discord and report there: https://discord.gg/HYV8Zz8V2Q
Titles and Norms
You've wanted this feature for a long time. I worked around it with the concept of 'ranks' for some time but now it's all there. Get the norms, acquire titles and reach the top!
Steam Achievements
I was never into Steam Achievements but plenty people are. I did my best to cover the basics and there's plenty more great ideas from the community. I hope I get to add more when I get the time.
Player History
Having an option to see your previous games and tournaments was often requested. It was time to deliver. See your games, see your tournaments, see the stats throughout your whole career.
Game Analysis
I'm not happy with how analysis looks/feels/functions right now. It's all stapled together long time ago and it's buggy and not intuitive. I want to fix it, but I've made an intermediate step with this functionality. It's a separate modal you get from history tab, after clicking on a game. There's option to play alternate lines on the board!
What else?
There's plenty of smaller improvements as well.
- Ability to stop simulation on the calendar screen.
- Game intro improvements (I know no one asked for this one but I had to)
- QOL: Tournaments are sorted when clicking on headers of tournaments table
- 30k new puzzles!
- Modal for overview of all changes the game had
- Smaller bug and UI fixes
What's next
As always, I'll focus on any potential bugs reported by the new version. But my eyes are on the prize! And the prize is to kill the most often reported bug - the game totally stopping while you're playing chess. It got better over the months but I'm now focused on fixing the underlying issue.
I'll switch to Lizard chess engine. That engine will be much tighter integrated with the game so the issues the game had in Full Game and Key Moments Simulation will disappear.
I also plan to improve on the round robin algorithm a little and to finally tackle the issue of match review screen.
That will be more than enough to bring us to 0.7.0 and one step closer to a full release.
Thank you for playing! Please leave a review so I know your thoughts!
