Howdy, survivors!
It's been a few weeks since you last heard from us. We haven't been torn apart by undead, we promise. We've just been hard at work on the game, and thought we'd trial monthly dev updates instead. (Let us know if you miss us.)
Something that's very important to us with this game is capturing the feeling of the era in which it's set. Mid-summer, Texas, 1980 has been such an evocative and inspiring linchpin for the entire development process – a strong pull for all aspects of the game, from the locations to the soundscape to the characters who inhabit the world. Having the team united on this vision and this aesthetic has been a core part of the development process.
In particular, something that's been very important (and, let's be honest, super fun!) for us to explore is the clothing style of the era. Short shorts! Cowboy hats! Big hair! It's a veritable feast for the eyes, and though we don't want to give away all of the fun just yet, we did manage to sneak this early set of concept drawings from our art team, which should hint at what's yet to come...

We've also been working on getting our characters moving, thinking about the way they navigate obstacles and the world around them. This is an important and tricky aspect of the game to nail, and a strange one because if it's done "right" then it's seamless and no one will notice.

It's also important to get the key details right.

Hey, come on. This is serious.
We're not holding back on ANY of the detailing. Because, when it all comes together, we'll (hopefully) have something extraordinary.

Thanks as always for sticking with us and coming along for the ride.
We'll be updating this hub on the last Friday of every month, so make sure you head back to keep an eye out.
Because we're going to have a pretty big announcement in the next short while.
Just sayin'.
