We're delighted to announce that the Extended Demo's Voice Update (Version 2.0) is now available!
We have been hard at work getting this update out to you all, and we are so pleased that you can finally see all the enhancements made to the game with the voicing and GUI we've made--among other things!
If you are redownloading, your save data should be intact, as the existing saves directory will not be affected by redownloading the game.
Please let us know on Discord or in the comments if you encounter any issues!
This update includes the following changes:
Partial Voice Acting
- Soundbytes/Bark Lines have been added for all characters.
- Fully voiced segments are now featured in Chapter 1, Chapter 2, and Chapter 4.
- Credits have been added to the About screen for our VAs and voice crew.
- Added sprite mouth voice line syncing so mouth animations play for the duration of voice lines instead of following dialogue display.
User Interface
- The Settings menu has now been updated to include a Voice Volume slider, complete with a dropdown menu to adjust individual characters' voices.
- A text box speaker icon indicator and optional Voiced Scene Notifications have also been added to mark the start and end of voiced scenes.
- The Save/Load menu now has an Edit Saves function, which will allow you to delete unnecessary save files.
- The CG Gallery Extras menu is now functional.
- The dialogue and name boxes have been given higher contrast, and narration will display in a different box than dialogue.
- The chapter save prompt screen is now its own screen for saves only, and saving between chapters now displays the next title card as the save thumbnail image.
- A mouse cursor has been added for the ~aesthetic.~
- Revised the advert screen background to fit the text better.
- Fixed the Screenshake On/Off Setting so shaking actually does stop when it's on.
- Smoothed out dissolve transitions so the window doesn't hide every time a dissolve happens.
- Icons for keyboard and mouse game controls have been added to the Help Screen
- App Icon updated for Mac and PC
Visuals
- The completed version of the Crosby Hall background, featuring the full height of the background, has been included.
- Seamus' Chapter 2 CG (Hugo Enters) has been freshened up!
- New poses for Seamus' sprite
- Minor sprite fixes and edits to sprites' bases, mouths, and gaze directions.
SFX/Music
- Updated versions of the following tracks are now in game: Sightline (Hugo's Theme), Bright Weather (Playful Theme), Risky Affairs (Tense Theme)
- A few sound effects have been added.
Writing & Scripting
- Some Britishisms and grammatical/punctuation errors have been corrected.
- Some camera movements have been smoothed and sound effects have been moved.
- Added an onboarding screen for the new voicing related UI features.
Laundry List
Although the Extended Demo is considered largely feature-complete and no major updates are planned, the following future changes are in the works:
- Refresh of the Chapter 4 Poem-reading Scene CG
- Additional sprite elements for all sprites
Happy playing, and we hope you enjoy hearing Of Sense and Soul come to life!
