Hello, this is Lifuel, developing Stand-Alone.
We've decided to start this development diary to share various challenges
we've faced in the process of developing Stand-Alone and the principles we adhere to.
We also hope to grow through your feedback and interactions.
We'll continue to share these development stories from time to time.
Today, I want to talk about 'Action'.
Stand-Alone is a pixel-graphic action roguelike game.
'Action' is an essential element in the roguelike genre,
and we believe it's a core appeal of the genre.
Therefore, we've put considerable thought into how to deliver high-quality action.
Our excellent team members are creating great pixel graphics and sprite animations,
focusing on stable controls, dazzling effects, natural camera movements, impactful skills,
and tension-filled battle designs.
Although discussing these technical aspects is important,
today, I'd like to talk about the topic that we've been primarily concerned with:
'Respecting the player's experience.'
Stand-Alone, borrowing the format of the roguelike genre, is a game
where players continually grow and challenge themselves,
acquiring and combining various skills through unpredictable enemies and events.
Therefore, we're striving to ensure that players can fully enjoy growing in different ways
and becoming stronger through their unique combinations and synergies.
However, we also understand that some players want to test their control skills without power-ups
and challenge themselves in 'challenge play'.
We believe that we should respect the demands of these challenging players,
and we welcome such challenges.
Hence, while developing the recent boss fight design,
we have considered how to make it challenging enough for skilled players to defeat the boss
without power-ups.
Not all players of Stand-Alone will choose or experience these elements.
However, we're striving to create an action roguelike game
where the constant challenges and player choices each carry their own meanings,
and these are connected to enjoyment.
We hope that each player's unique choices and play styles can lead to meaningful gaming experiences.
In this way, we're continuing the development of Stand-Alone,
valuing the players' choices and experiences.
We'll continue to work tirelessly to create a game that
fully brings out the charm of the action roguelike genre. :)!
