We have some exciting news to share with all of you today! You might remember that, unfortunately, Speluncaphobia was retired from Steam some time ago due to the challenges of continuing development as a solo developer. But now, we're thrilled to announce that the game is making a triumphant return!
We've recently assembled a small but talented team of developers who share the same passion for creating a truly immersive and terrifying caving experience. With their support and expertise, we'll be able to bring Speluncaphobia back to life and deliver the game I originally envisioned.
Our primary goal has always been to capture the fear of being lost and alone in a cave, and with our new team, we're confident that we'll be able to achieve that more effectively than ever before. We'll be enhancing the game's atmosphere, incorporating realistic sounds, and refining gameplay mechanics to create a palpable sense of dread and isolation that will make your heart race, while still retaining the retro look.
Stay tuned for more updates on the game's development, and get ready to face your deepest fears in the dark, claustrophobic depths of Speluncaphobia.
What will change:
Instead of multiple stories, Speluncaphobia will now have one, massive cave system. Your choices matter. You will be able to encounter spine chilling creatures, and you must figure out the mystery behind the cave that has taken many lifes along the years.
The game will be unretired once the game is done. No ETA, but the development has already started.
