I saw that the game's sales have surged recently, so I decided it might be time to update Cat and Rat.
Then disaster struck.
While looking for the project files, I realized that after reinstalling my computer, the original project was gone. Thankfully, I did have a backup on my hard drive—but the backup was from before I implemented the co-op mode.
Which means if I want to update the game, I'll have to remake those features from scratch. The workload actually isn't that big, but... I'm just too lazy.
The good news is that I got into graduate school, haha. I have a two-month summer break now, so I can work on it slowly.
My plan is to first restore the features that were originally planned. Besides co-op mode, I also need to finish the cat AI. After that, I'll push an update.
Planned update content:
New items
New cats
New mice
I'm also going to look into online multiplayer. If I can figure it out, I'll add it as well.
I'm posting this announcement now because otherwise I'm too lazy. Without anyone to keep me accountable, I might just give up halfway through.
