Hello, dear friends!
A few days ago, someone wrote to us in private messages with an interesting question about how exactly we create and come up with character designs for our game. Well, there are really a lot of bright birds in Pigeon, so now we will try to answer this question and tell you everything in detail!
To begin with, it is worth noting that one of the key goals of our team is to show in the game as many different bird species as possible that exist in real life. To do this, the narrative design department first studied a huge number of birds, noting the peculiarities of the behavior of each of them, then chose the most interesting, familiar and rare species, and after that they were directly engaged in creating characters: prescribed their image, character, background, etc.
When the character is ready, artists step in and give him an original and memorable appearance. Of course, the appearance of the hero is not drawn "from nonsense". The artists take a real bird as a basis and take into account all the subtleties of a particular species, such as body structure, such as beak, tail, paws and other things, as well as color, after which they add some unique elements to the character's design, such as hairstyle, jewelry and, of course, clothes. As for the latter, here artists also study various references and historical photographs in order to achieve maximum authenticity, plausibility and emphasize one or another character trait of a character, or his belonging to something. All this helps to achieve recognition for the important and central characters of the game.
