Hello, friends!
I'm happy to announce that "Bavovna included!" has received a major update that changes not only the game's appearance but also gives it a new mood, atmosphere, and style. This update isn't just a technical patch — it's the result of long reflection and work to make the game more unique, cohesive, and expressive in its essence.
Let’s talk about what exactly has changed in this new version.
📺 UNIQUE VISUAL STYLE: CRT + TELEVISION
One of the main updates is the visual redesign. "Bavovna included!" no longer looks like a “typical pixel game.” I decided to create a custom frame in the form of an old television through which the player seems to be "watching" what’s happening on screen. It adds a retro-reality effect.
The atmosphere is enhanced by a CRT effect that simulates the look of old cathode-ray tube screens. It creates a living, pulsating image with slight distortions, scan lines, and subtle flickering. This isn't just a stylistic choice — it also supports the core idea of the game: looking at war through media, through screens, news feeds, and televisions.
It's not just a filter — it's a personal window into the events unfolding in the game. And in my opinion, this has made "Bavovna included!" truly stand out among similar games.
🎮 NEW VERSION ON A NEW ENGINE — GODOT 4.4
The game has been fully ported to Godot 4.4, which made it possible to:
- improve performance on modern machines;
- implement new graphic capabilities (including the CRT effect);
- simplify future game support;
- update internal systems (UI, logic, physics) to make everything more stable and flexible.
This update isn’t cosmetic. It affects every element of the game. The game has literally been rewritten, rebuilt, and reimagined within the same concept.
🍏 ABOUT MACBOOK: OLD VERSION STILL AVAILABLE
For several reasons, I had to remove Mac support in the new version. However, I understand that some players still use Macs, so:
👉 The old version (on Godot 3), which fully supports Mac, is still available in a separate Steam branch. You can easily switch to it through the Steam beta-testing window by selecting the appropriate branch in the game’s settings.
This way, no player is left behind — it's just that the new features are currently unavailable on macOS.
💙💛 30% OF SALES GO TO SUPPORT UKRAINE
As before, 30% of all proceeds from the sale of "Bavovna included!" go to help Ukraine — for volunteer initiatives, humanitarian aid, and support for those affected. I continue to send donations and report on it in the game’s community.
This is not just a gesture. It’s part of the game’s idea. Part of its message. It’s what sets "Bavovna included!" apart not only stylistically, but ethically.
🔧 OTHER CHANGES
- Fully updated user interface — adapted to the TV frame.
- New post-processing system with more realistic effects.
- Resource optimization — reduced memory usage.
- Preparation for future updates and possibly new levels.
🎁 THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTS
This project was born as an indie game by two people, inspired by events, emotions, and the reality we all live in. But thanks to your support, the game has come a long way — from an experiment to a full-fledged project with its own voice, style, and community.
This update is not the finale. It's a new chapter. And I am endlessly grateful to everyone who has already played, left feedback, donated, supported, recommended it to friends, or simply added it to their wishlist.
🧪 HOW TO TRY BOTH VERSIONS?
Steam has a branch system that allows you to choose a version of the game:
By default, the new version installs (with the CRT effect, television frame, on Godot 4.4).
To play on Mac or return to the previous style:
- Right-click the game in your Steam library.
- Select "Properties" > "Betas."
- Choose the branch with the previous version (clearly named).
📣 FEEDBACK
I truly value feedback. If you have suggestions, bugs, requests, or just want to share your impressions — write in the game’s Steam comments or to the official email.
Thanks again. And remember: "Bavovna included!" is not just a game. It's a cry, a memory, a satire, and a donation in every click.
See you on the screens — TV or not 🖤
Glory to Ukraine!
