Hi everyone,
It has now been about a week since Death Scourges launched, and I want to take a moment to talk openly about feedback and the direction moving forward.
Several players mentioned that the game can be finished relatively quickly(2 - 3 hours), and that the original price point felt high for the current length of the experience.
After reflecting on this feedback, I think that assessment is fair.
Pricing a game is not a trivial process. It involves expectations, perception of value, and a fair amount of human psychology and emotional behaviour.
As a solo developer, it’s easy to misjudge where the right balance between value and accessibility lies.
My goal has always been simple: players should feel like they get good value for their money.
Because of that, here is what will happen.
After the current launch discount ends on March 15, the base price of Death Scourges will be reduced from $18.99 to $14.99.
This means that early supporters still received the best possible price during the launch discount (yet), while the entry for new player is more fair. I’m very grateful to everyone who jumped in early and helped shape the game with their feedback.
But that’s not all.
A content update is already in development and will expand the experience further.
Planned additions include:
New Game Plus mode
All craftable gun blueprints unlocked from the start
New deadly enemy type: Suicide Runners
Increased enemy density
Adjusted squad damage output
Hidden objects that unlock squad skins
A total of eight hidden objects each unlocking a unique squad outfit
Coming with a new Steam achievement for finding all objects
QoL/Balancing
Toggleable fire mode per weapon
Better shoot/hit feedback
Adjustments to the loot pool
Adjustments to stamina and flashlight drain/replenish
Adjustments to grenade blast radii
Replacement of shooting sounds for silenced guns
Bugfixes
Stutter bug fix, that occurred roughly every 3 minutes
Staircase bug fix, that caused the player becoming stuck when sliding off staircases
Other tiny bug fixes
In other words: players will soon pay less for more content compared to the launch version of the game. I’ll continue watching feedback closely to see how the changes affect the overall perception of the game.
Being an indie developer is challenging, but feedback from players is what helps shape the game into something better.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the game so far.
