This post isn't really as gloomy as it might initially sound, but I have been observing and listening to player feedback on the game's demo, and decided that the best course for the game is to have its release delayed for a bit.
If you don't know, Slap Squad's demo was supposed to participate in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, which would have helped a lot in reaching new players and extending the game's marketing, with a planned release in 2023.
After initially releasing the demo, I have noticed a lot of players feeling frustrated about the game's experience, or just bored because of a repetitive game loop pattern. I apologize for that and promise to take action to change it.
I have summarized things I should be focusing development on as such:
- More unique game modes.
- Finishing character progression system and customizations.
- Adding more unique chaotic weapons.
- Completing a visual overhaul, so that the game looks more presentable and easy on the eyes.
- Polishing player movement and model.
I hope these changes can affect the game's perception positively in the future, and enable me to create a generally better game.
In other news, I WILL BE NEEDING PLAY TESTERS, so if you are interested, you can look out for that in the future.
I will be updating the game development through dev log posts during the upcoming months. So see you soon in a future dev log!
