Hi all,
This week was a lot of UI tweaks and polish. I think I have the new game flow to a point where I consider it "usable", but there are a few things I need to finish. Beyond that, I finally got to working on the party management screen. Again, there's more to do, but it looks much closer to how it'll be in the end (most likely).
Once that view is done, I think the next major milestone will be hooking up the new game flow to the start of the "travel" gameplay. Initially, this should be very simple by generating a starter inventory and such. Later I'll build it out to be more involved.
One other thing I added this week that's completely new is "backstories." When creating a character you'll be able to select a backstory that further augments the traits that you'll have at your disposal. For example, "The Forlorn Salaryman" backstory has a unique bio that will stick with the character and the bartering trait. I'm not 100% certain on the scope of backstories as far as how many there will be, and they'll need to not conflict with the skillset that you select, so it's definitely a work in progress.
My current goal is to have a playable "alpha" as soon as possible. That is, have the following completed:
* New game flow
* Transition from new game flow to travel gameplay
* Be able to interchange between traveling (2D) and exploring (3D) whilst tracking inventory and health
* Transition from travel or exploration to failure flow
* Be able to reach your destination and end the playthrough
Each of these pieces are in various states, somewhere between just started and almost feature-complete.
Sorry, no screenshots this week! I should have something for next weekend to show off a bit.
Thanks!
