Update 2.3 brings new chaos to the shadows of Deceit 2.
New Innocent Role - Observer
Ever feel like you're being watched? You are now.
The Observer is a fresh addition to the innocent roster - a player equipped with surveillance-level insight. By activating their ability, the Observer can:
Reveal all active and completed tasks on the map
Track who completed which task last
Perfect for unmasking pretenders or verifying allies - assuming you can stay alive long enough to use it.
New Mutation - Paranormal
Back from the beyond.
Paranormal returns to the rotation after earlier testing, bringing its signature brand of midday madness.
During the Day Phase, all players enter ghost form for 20 seconds.
With everyone in Ghost form, it’s the perfect moment for the Infected to make their move.
New Mutation - Nonsense
You asked for chaos - you got it.
The Nonsense mutation floods matches with unpredictable, player-specific audio cues designed to confuse, mislead, and dismantle trust. These sounds will continue randomly until the current phase ends.
Reality Phase
Random fake alerts may include:
Weak point activation
Motion Sensor trigger
Invisibility Medallion use
Gunfire
Smoke or Gas Grenade detonation
Menace activation
“Chemist poisoned all” alert
“Warden is banishing” alert
Mimic Copy use
Soulbound partner chosen
Inbetween Phase
Prepare for chaos with fake:
Experiment dash screams
Werewolf howls
Vampire teleports
Monkey “Go Banana” screams
Terror transformations
Each player hears different sounds. Paranoia has been weaponised.
VFX Changes
We've added a gradual dissolve effect to the characters as they get transported to the Inbetween, turn invisible, or transform into a terror. This should help improve the game's theming and immersion, making the transition between phases more seamless.
Update 2.3 gives Innocents new tools and Infected new tricks.
Every move matters now - especially when it comes to tasks.
Pay attention to who’s completing them... and who’s just pretending.
See you in the ritual!
