'Tokyo Underground Killer' releases new Gameplay Overview video, set to launch on Steam September 5, 2025.
To celebrate this announcement, our team has simultaneously released a new gameplay overview video, giving players worldwide their first in-depth look at the fast-paced combat and protagonist Kobayashi's life in Tokyo's crime-infested underworld, where flashy neon lights and disturbing violence intertwine.
Players take on the role of the “Shinjuku Vampire” Kobayashi, a notorious assassin working for Japan’s biggest crime syndicate Gokuraku. Experience fast-paced sword fights in seedy alleyways, use 10 supernatural Blood Skills to unleash fire tornadoes or suck out enemies' health, and employ unlockable skills to overcome the game’s 10 different, challenging bosses.
Check out the video to get a full overview of the game’s over-the-top katana violence combined with a beautiful neon Tokyo backdrop based on real locations such as Akihabara or Shinjuku.
The game is fully voiced in English and Japanese, with a Japanese all-star cast featuring legendary voice actor Hidekatsu Shibata (Naruto, One Piece, Dragonball, etc) as Kobayashi’s dreaded boss Ishihara.
Daniel Hedjazi (aka Bentoman), Studio Head and Director at Phoenix Game Productions, states: "Creating this game was our dream and passion for many years. We can't wait for players to finally experience our violent, fever-dreamish vision of Tokyo. Between maniac Yakuza bosses, revenge-driven Idols and enticing cult leaders, Kobayashi's trip through Tokyo’s underworld is not only a relentless fight for survival, but also a journey of self-discovery, filled with dark humor and unexpected twists.
Paired with an unforgettable soundtrack created by legendary musician Andrew Hulshult and a story told through almost 100 pages of unique comic book panels drawn by comic artist Hans Steinbach, we believe that Tokyo Underground Killer will deliver a gaming experience unlike anything else".
Get ready to become Kobayashi on September 5th and carve a bloody path to freedom under the bloody cover of Tokyo's neon-drenched night!
