2.3.16 adds a new crush system. Players sometimes get frustrated over losing a life and being generally disrupted by sudden crush events. Being crushed is essential to the design of Don't Die, Collect Loot, but I also understand that this binary system can be frustrating. This patch adds an experimental system that makes crushes somewhat less disruptive.
The first time you're crushed, you'll lose half your maximum life, and no mitigation will prevent this. You'll become temporarily invincible and can move freely through obstacles on the screen. Once you re-materialize, you'll be back to normal. Note that re-materializing inside of an obstacle, like a body of water or a house, will immediately trigger a second crush. Be careful!
After your first crush, the second will deal 60% of your maximum life. The third will deal 80%, and the fourth will always kill you. This penalty persists throughout the run, even if you die! You can move back a penalty stage by completing an event, however. For example, if you were crushed twice, the third crush will deal 80% of your life. However, you then interact with the Goddess of Fate at the end of a stage. Your crush penalty will now be 60%, should you be crushed again.
As always I'm looking for feedback! Does this help? Is it dumb? Is it more fun? Let me know!
Other fixes:
- Fixed an issue where Legacy characters would fail to load under certain conditions
- Fixed a bug where Shrines would automatically buff you on map load
- Fixed a bug where Nightmare research could get out of sync. The next time you log in, your research values will correct themselves. They will always adjust in your favor, you'll never lose research due to this!
