Hello everyone! Today we have released Enzio-Ware v2.4.0-EA. This update fixes SO MANY bugs, alongside moving us super close to getting the game out of early access.
Cutscene Overhaul
Hecate’s Episode has been updated to the new cutscene system!
Please be aware, her outro specifically is missing some CG right now and flows awkwardly because of it (A decent portion of the outro is characters mentioning things happening off-screen in almost no detail because it was written assuming you would be seeing it lol )
Microgame Additions
“Golem Bounce” has been added to Kendra’s episode
Bounce on the spinning heads of defeated golems to take the coins they have for... some reason... Hey where’s my wallet!?
With this, Kendra has reached 10 microgames. (This includes the microgame “Shout!” which will not appear in the rotation if a microphone is not detected)
Ambassador Certificate Additions
As promised a long time ago, the cosmetics using Mat’s old design will now be granted to you upon opening the ambassador certificate! This consists of
The ES Skin “DMV Dreamy (Retired)”
The Theme “Mat Character Theme (Retired)”
This theme has not actually been changed yet, but is being granted pre-emptively
The Stylus “DMV Freebie (Retired)”
And two Mat icons, one featuring his normal design, and the other featuring his disguised designdue to me forgetting to set something back when bug-fixing, these were granted in a buggy way and will be granted proper in the next patch
Our original promise of a adding a bunch of new cosmetics per milestone update has not been kept and I apologize for that. I am trying my best to get Enzio and Jud updated before the 20th for the 1 year anniversary, once that is done I plan to add a whole slew of new Ambassador Certificate cosmetics. Don't you worry.
Bug Fixes
Fixed the controls pop-up in “Tune In!”
The CORRECT controls are AD + Left Arrow and Right Arrow. I apologize for changing them to a different incorrect controls scheme in the last patch.
Fixed an issue where a certain character’s sprites were flickering when she talked
Fixed an issue where episode clear cosmetics were not being granted at the ends of episodes.
If you cleared an episode that was updated to the new cutscene system and did not get the Theme and Music Track, you will need to replay the story mode.
Needless to say, this was a major oversight, and I’m incredibly sorry for the inconvenience.
Fixed an issue where the ambassador certificate was granting a set of profile pictures as home menu icons, preventing anyone who redeemed it from playing
If this got reported somewhere please let me know, I’m worried I’m missing some feedback thing
Unfortunately due to me forgetting to change something back, you will not get the profile pictures until the next update.
Fixed an issue where the “Evil White” theme was named wrong in the files, causing an error when loaded.
When I went to test the game before uploading I experienced a weird bug with saves. I rewrote some code so that it doesn’t try to merge the local save with an online save if found anymore
(it wasn’t supposed to be doing that anymore to begin with, genuinely so confused as to what the hell happened here and how long this was going on??)
Fixed a bug where Enzio-Pon was not loaded correctly on the home screen. This did not cause a crash but both the icon and spinny image were displayed as white rectangles.
What is next?
A lot of these bugs were... embarrassing to stumble across this far into development to say the least, but I'm glad to have caught them. Hopefully that was the worst of em.
The next major update SHOULD be 2.5.0-EA and will hopefully be out on or before the 1st anniversary. They will be missing CG, but Jud and Enzio will be have their cutscenes updated to the new system.
Ideally, this update will add 2 new microgames to Polly, 1 new microgame to Arthur, finally achieving our goal of bringing everyone up to 10, however they will not be worked on til the cutscenes are done.
Internally there is a plan to completely redo Jud’s boss level, but I do not think that will make the cut. It is the last thing I need to do programming wise before finally being able to focus on the epilogue. There are some little things I will need to program in the main story as assets get done, but as far as the main game is concerned, I’m finally nearing the end. (After the epilogue is completed, EVERYTHING will get a second round of polish).
Hopefully I do not find a bunch of horrible game-breaking bugs in the next week.
