Hi Misfits! We hope you’re unwell.
Today we want to share an important update on Into the Unwell. After a lot of internal discussions, we’ve made the decision to torch our Early Access plans and move the game’s release to 2027. Into the Unwell is now going straight to a full 1.0 launch from day one!
We know this isn’t the kind of update anyone’s excited to read, and we don’t take that lightly. But we also know what this game can become, and we want to give it the time it needs to get there properly.
We’ve put together a small FAQ below to cover the most common questions we expect you might have. If we’ve missed anything, feel free to drop a comment.
Thanks for sticking with us, for all the support so far, and for being as weird about this game as we are.
FAQ
Q: Why the delay? And why are you not going into Early Access, if the playtests were going very well?
A: Honestly the feedback we'd hoped to get in Early Access we got in the playtests, and we think the foundation is solid as hell. Since we don't need to scrape together Early Access money to keep the lights on, we decided to cook on our own and launch this thing as the full, intended experience from day 1!
Q: What content can we expect to see in the full release of the game? A: All the levels, a pile of characters, and weapons to mess around with. And secrets we’re definitely not spilling yet. Where’s the fun in ruining it all upfront anyway?
Q: With a full release, will the game get updates post-launch?
A: Maybe! We’re a bunch of weird, creative horses after all, and we don’t want to limit ourselves. If we come up with a cool idea, why not add it?
Q: Is there a date for the full release?
A: We’re not ready to reveal that just yet, but we’re targeting 2027. We’re taking the time to make sure this thing hits as hard as it should!
Q: Does the full release mean other platforms, such as consoles?
A: Our main focus is still on Steam, but we’re not closing the doors on other platforms down the line.
Q: Are you going radio silent, or will we keep seeing progress as before?
A: Radio silent? Heck no! Please look forward to dev diaries on Steam and plenty of social media posts on X, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. We’ve got some juicy stuff planned that we can’t wait to share with you all.
