The new cosmetics update that will be released soon, will bring integration of the steam inventory api. Players will be able to purchase cosmetic attachments like horns, wings, and tails, among other items in the future. Players will also be able to trade or sell these items in the steam marketplace. This new monetization model will allow the game to switch to free-to-play. The new free-to-play model will have the advantages of allowing you to easily invite your friends to play with you and will also keep the player count of the game, servers, and instances, higher. Existing purchasers of FOG before the change to free-to-play will receive an in game supporter badge.
