Cardterrupters is a deckbuilder with real time battles. It pauses indefinitely when it's time to choose your cards, so take as long as you need. The cards need seconds to use instead of energy, so it's not just about making the most of the 3 cards you can play, but also how long it'll take to use them all.
Anyone waiting to cast their cards is in a vulnerable state and is open to Breaks. Being hit whilst casting Breaks the next action, removing it completely from their turn. If a combatant has all their actions broken, they're interrupted and have to wait to take their turn all over again.
It's a deckbuilder where offense is definitely the best defense!
Meet Dina and Marshall, two of the Cardterrupters that'll be playable. Dina is all about inflicting burns and having good management over her cards. Every 10 cards she plays sets her Airborne, giving her access to special cards and she takes less damage.
Marshall is an obsessive kleptomaniac. He can't help but steal enemy buffs off them, inflict them with status effects or make himself wily and tough to hit. Every 5 turns all of his cards will come out near instantly!
