A personal foreword from the former CEO Tomi Toikka, Creative Director of Supermoves
It's a sad day to announce, but Supermoves: World of Parkour will be delisted on 30th of June 2025. We negotiated to the best of our ability to have the game stay online, with various options presented.
Unfortunately, due to the structure of our financing, we have no legal path to keep Supermoves on sale once Makea Games enters liquidation.
This is devastating news to the team that worked so hard to bring the game to life.
Our game, which was nominated and won second place in the Finnish Game Awards for Best Game of The Year 2024, has become lost media, trapped in an IP limbo, for the foreseeable future.
I spent almost four years of my life and hired over 20 people to work on it. While not a blockbuster success, it had great reviews on Steam and over 50 000 players.
After shutting down Makea Games, I had hoped I could salvage the game IP to be preserved in another game company, so players could still play the game they own online, and maybe it could see a resurgence in new players one day. But sometimes the cost of doing business is losing something you love.
I'll cherish the time I spent working on the game with the greats at Makea Games forever. I just wish I could have played the game online with my future kids someday.
If you care about digital preservation, independent development, or public R&D policy, I hope the fate of Supermoves sparks a wider conversation about how we keep creative work alive, even when the business behind it closes its doors.
These situations are complicated, tangled in red tape and regret. One day, I hope we’ll treat games as art worthy of preservation and celebration, no matter their commercial outcome.
But tonight, we say goodbye to Supermoves.
- Tomi Toikka, former CEO, Founder & Creative Director at Makea Games
Supermoves goes offline 30th of June 2025
We have asked Valve to delist the game from the Steam storefront on 30th of June 2025 as per our voluntary liquidation proceedings and agreement for Makea Games Ltd.
Players who buy or play Supermoves before 30th of June will continue to have full, offline access to the game - if you own it on Steam, you can still play it from your library. If you buy it while it's available, you will have it forever, just not with the online features.
Please only purchase if you are aware that the online services will not be available - this is mostly for game collectors who wish to preserve this game in their Steam libraries.
Can you play Supermoves offline?
Yes, Supermoves features an entirely singleplayer Career Mode that features most levels from the multiplayer with bots to run against, and even a bit of a Tony Hawk's -like story to enjoy. It's got hours and hours of fun gameplay and you don't want to miss out on it.
Which online features will be unavailable?
When the Azure Thundernetes backend shuts down, we lose backend connectivity to features that are required for Supermoves: World of Parkour to operate.
The online features that will stop functioning are:
Matchmaking and all multiplayer functionality
Online playlists and online server browser
The Makea Editor and editing levels
Progression
Leaderboards
Explore Menu and the user-created levels over there
One single achievement requires online connectivity, and it will be deleted from the Steamworks backend so that you can obtain 100% achievements even after the servers are down. The achievement in question is "Bring Your Imagination".
As the Makea Editor will be unavailable for offline use, the achievement would then be unobtainable. We'll remove it so you can get 100% completion.
If you enjoyed competing on the leaderboards, you could use Speedrun.com's Supermoves leaderboard as an alternative. Just keep in mind the singleplayer races differ from the listings on that page, as they are different in Career Mode rather than Explore (which will stop functioning).
Can Supermoves be bought from Steam after 30th of June 2025?
No. All sales will be suspended as part of our agreement for voluntary liquidation proceedings for Makea Games Ltd.
Was there anything to be done to prevent this?
I have exhausted every legal option for this. This game meant the world to me, and the entire team is devastated that this has to happen for us to shut down operations of Makea Games Ltd.
Final Sale - Supermoves -90% off for the Steam Summer Sale
Once the Steam Summer Sale starts, you'll be able to get Supermoves for the final sale and biggest discount ever. The game will lose online functionality on 30th June 2025, but continues to be a great game to enjoy even in singleplayer. After 30th June, the game will disappear from Steam.
This is the last chance to get the game before it is delisted from the Steam Store.
Farewell
I thoroughly enjoyed my time being the CEO, Founder & Creative Director at Makea Games. No one wishes things to end this way, and I hope you are kind and gentle towards the development team who poured their hearts into this game.
It's been an incredibly tough year for games and I hope everyone lands okay.
Thank you for all the runners, level builders and the crazy speedrunning community for enjoying Supermoves: World of Parkour. It means the world to me that you chose our little game for your entertainment.
