This update is mainly focused on addressing a few crashes and stability issues reported by players. Most of these issues were uncommon and difficult to reproduce consistently, but based on crash reports and player feedback I've implemented a number of potential fixes and improvements.
I would also appreciate feedback on the updated beast camera shake. The effect has been adjusted to better convey the weight and movement of the beast while being less intrusive during gameplay. The setting can still be disabled in the options menu, and depending on feedback I may add an intensity slider in the future.
Changes, Fixes & Improvements
- Fixed two uncommon crashes that could occur when loading or joining a game.
- Fixed an issue with gamepad stick deadzones affecting both the player and beast camera.
- Added gamepad stick deadzones to radial menus to avoid accidentally selecting options when the stick is near the center.
- Fixed a possible issue where "Friends Only" games were not always visible through the in-game server browser. Direct Steam invites and connections were not affected.
- Added internal improvements to the buff/debuff system to help prevent potential crashes.
- Added a possible fix for a rare crash that could occur when opening the inventory.
- Added a possible fix for a medium-frequency crash related to Unreal Engine 5.5 and DirectX 12.
- Updated beast camera shake. The effect is now more subtle while still improving the feeling of the beast's footsteps and movement.
Roadmap Progress
Most of my current development time is focused on the first stage of the roadmap.
Since this stage involves changes across a large part of the starting island and progression experience, it is being developed as a single update rather than through smaller patches. In the meantime, I'll continue releasing bug fixes, stability improvements, and quality-of-life updates.
