Hello there! Mandrillian Bots were already in a pretty good place, but with the recent Coop Mode addition, I thought it would be great if I could make the experience even closer to playing against humans.
One big feature they were missing were Upgrades. Until now, the only Upgrade they had available was the Armor (because it didn't really need any extra coding on their behavior). Not anymore!
Mandrillian Bots can now use the Smoke Bomb and Self Destruction too. "Dynamic" upgrade setting will simulate them gaining points and using them on upgrades, while "Random" will use a slightly weighted roll.
The Jammer and Healer area already in the works, with the Fire Bomb and Plasma Gun coming later this month. If you want to test them early you can always go into the Experimental game branch (Right click on the game > Properties > Betas).
Right now, only the coop challenges have the Dynamic upgrade setting for Mandrillian bots, but the idea is to have it appear on most challenges once all upgrades are coded in.
This update also has a fix for some unwanted behavior on the flamethrower's tank and a "random" setting for (human) Mandrillian upgrades.
FULL CHANGELOG
- Mandrillian Bots now have access to the Smoke Bomb upgrade in Dynamic/Random upgrade mode
- Mandrillian Bots now have access to the Self Destruction upgrade in Dynamic/Random upgrade mode
- Added "Random" setting for the (human) Mandrillian Upgrades. Just like the Mandrillian Bot counterpart, it's a slightly weighted system.
- Fixed Flamethrower's tank being able to be removed even when the flamethrower was not held, which could lead to accidental tank grabs when trying to grab the flamethrower off your back holster
