▌Buddies and Buddy Orbs
In this expansion, Farlight 84 introduces an exciting new pet-capturing system—Buddies and Buddy Orbs. This system tightly integrates pets into your combat strategies.
Meet Buddy: Your New Friends in Battle
Buddies are mysterious creatures in Sunder Realms, possibly linked directly to Ether. They come in two types: Common and Archon, each with its own unique skills. Common Buddies are more abundant and easier to find, while Archon Buddies are extremely rare and possess immense power that can turn the tide of battle.
Once captured, Buddies automatically follow your character and remain in standby mode. You can switch between them at any time, making them ready to unleash their skills. There will be a certain cooldown time after each time you release a Buddy.
Common Buddies
These Buddies are widely scattered across the Sunder Realms map and are relatively easy to catch. While not as powerful as Archon Buddies, they can still make a significant impact at critical moments. Let’s take a look at their skills:
- Zephy: Zephy creates a wind field that speeds up or slows down players based on their direction.
- Buzzy: Buzzy teleports downed teammates or Loot Box to your location after a short wait.
- Smokey: Smokey drops a smoke cloud at each bounce, blocking enemy vision.
- Squeaky: Squeaky launches players far away and deals a bit of damage on landing.
- Sparky: Sparky explodes after a short delay, dealing big damage to enemies nearby.
- Petal Peeper: Petal Peeper scans the area and marks enemies on the mini-map, adjusting to the Safe Zone size.
- Snatchpaw: Snatchpaw steals a random item (not weapons or shields) from the closest enemy and shows a hint pointing to you.
- Morphdrake: Morphdrake disguises you as an object for an extended period. You can cancel it anytime, and taking damage will break the disguise.
Archon Buddy
Archon Buddies are rare, but their abilities are powerful, even surpassing other elements in the game. Sometimes they they can dramatically influence the outcome of the match:
- Time Dominator: Time Dominator moves the Safe Zone toward it, instantly shifting the battle.
- Storm Empress: Storm Empress creates a huge tornado that lifts and damages players over time.
Buddy Orb
The Buddy Orb is a high-tech device developed with help from Sunil. It can capture almost any object, shrink it, and store it, making it a vital resource on the battlefield.
Features
- You start each match with a reusable Buddy Orb, while any additional ones you find during the game are single-use items.
- The Buddy Orb can capture not only Buddies but also vehicles, Tactical Facilities, and other resources.
- You can find Buddy Orbs in Supply Crates, Airdrops, and Sponsor Boxes. Some Buddy Orbs even come with items or Buddies already inside.
- To use it, simply aim and throw the Buddy Orb at your target. The capture process will start automatically, with a 100% success rate, and cannot be interrupted—ensuring smooth acquisition of tactical resources.
- Each Buddy Orb can store up to 6 Buddies or tactical items (including Tactical Facilities and vehicles). You can manage these on the pack page or quickly switch between them using the scroll wheel. Be sure to prioritize between Buddies and other tactical items as the battlefield evolves.
Tactical Facility
This expansion introduces a brand-new battlefield item—Tactical Facilities.
- Tactical Facilities are scattered throughout the arena and have their own health points, so they can be destroyed.
- They come in various forms and can be stored in the Buddy Orb.
▌Weapons
As the competition heats up, the committee has completely overhauled the weapon arsenal. ▌Maps
Sunder Realms Fully Revamped
With the introduction of Buddies, the landscape and environment of Sunder Realms have undergone major changes, greatly improving the ecosystem and giving the map a fresh, new look. From lush vegetation to more challenging terrain, the pace and strategy of battles have evolved, offering a more immersive combat experience.
Sunder Realms Update Overview
Terrain Overhaul: The terrain has been completely revamped with steeper slopes and more varied elevation, allowing for greater character mobility. You can now jetslide down ramps at high speeds, combine it with wall-running and other movement abilities for even more intense skirmishes.
Cover Layout Optimization: The placement of cover has been adjusted to improve tactical depth for both outdoor and indoor combat.
Building Upgrades: All buildings have been renovated, featuring new door mechanics and indoor bunker designs. These changes add new layers of strategy to indoor combat, especially during the final circle, where bunkers become key points for ambushes and counter-attacks.
New Landmarks: To improve map recognition, several large landmarks have been added, such as the giant duck statue in the Residential Area, the towering terminal building, and the floating boulder above the Lab. These landmarks not only help you spot targets while parachuting but also serve as useful positioning guides during battles.
Recon Beacon: New Recon Beacons have been added in places like Nova Bazaar. When activated, they scan and reveal all enemies on the map, marking them on your mini-map. However, nearby enemies will also get an alert that they've been detected.
Graphics Optimization: New details like grass and other environmental decorations have been added to enhance the overall visual experience.
Map Resource Adjustments
Buddy Introduction: Buddies are now part of the map! You can find and capture these mysterious creatures in hidden corners, introducing new strategic elements to your gameplay.
Shield XP Removal: We’ve removed the shield and Shield XP system, simplifying shield growth. Now, your shield will grow in sync with the Tactical Core upgrade.
Supply Chests Optimization: Supply points and Supply Chests have been redistributed, especially in larger strongholds, where resources are now more plentiful, improving early-game looting efficiency.
Starting Supply Assurance: When you open a tactical Supply Chest for the first time, you’re guaranteed to find a weapon, ensuring you don’t start the game unarmed.
Sponsor Box Update: Sponsor Boxes now provide more hero XP, rare Buddies, and have a chance to contain valuable Trait Activation Cards.
Airdrop Adjustment: The Airdrop Rain has been reduced to a single powerful airdrop containing high-level equipment and powerful weapons. In the Super Airdrop, you’ll now have a chance to catch an emperor-level Buddy, such as the Time Dominator or Storm Empress, giving you an edge in dominating the battlefield.

▌Heroes
Tactical Core: Smoother In-Game Development
In this update, we’re introducing a new way for heroes to grow—the Tactical Core system. This feature adds more variety to your tactical choices and makes it easier to customize how your hero evolves during the game. You’ll have the flexibility to allocate Trait points, focusing on the skills that will help the most in that moment and boosting your overall combat performance.
How the Tactical Core Works
- The Tactical Core is a new Trait Upgrade system. As your hero levels up, the Tactical Core will also upgrade, giving you Trait points to enhance your abilities.
- Revive Inheritance: If you're revived, you’ll keep all your Tactical Core levels and Trait points.
Trait points and Trait Activation Cards
- Trait points: You can use Trait points to upgrade your hero’s skills, with each skill being upgraded up to two times (for a max of level three). The first upgrade boosts basic stats, like reducing cooldowns, while the second unlocks special abilities.
- Trait Activation Cards: To fully max out your skills, you’ll need Trait Activation Cards, which can be found in Advanced Supplies boxes, airdrops, and Sponsor Boxes. These cards will give you extra Trait points.
Gaining XP
- XP Devices: New XP Devices are scattered across the map. Interact with them to gain XP.
- Looting: Get XP by opening Supply Crates
- Kills and Assists: Earn XP from kills and assists, and from Tactical Cores found in Loot Boxes.
Shield Mechanism
- Shield Upgrade: You'll start with a shield that’s tied to your level. Every time you level up, your shield will also increase, and if your shield is not full when you level up, it will be partially replenished by a percentage.
- Shield Restore: Restore shields using Shield Rechargers and Shield Restorers, or by looting Tactical Cores from Loot Boxes. If the core level is lower or equal to your hero’s level, your shield refills. If it’s higher, the extra value becomes a temporary shield for extra protection.
