THANK YOU <3
It has been about 4 months since PAX East! A big thank you to everyone that attended our booth and played RBA. We received an incredible amount of feedback and we've been hard at work updating the game.
Changes
Lots of changes, but I want to highlight some big changes to the player HUD. Previously, weapon and ability information was spread across different corners of the screen. We consolidated this information to the top right. Here, the player can easily view: weapon, ammo, and Proove cool downs. The mini map has been moved to the bottom right. Health and resource information has been collected and reworked to the top left. The symbols on either side of the screen signify modifiers (Runtimes or Calamities) applied to Beary or the world. And speaking of health... Health has been reworked to a heart system. Beary can lose a minimum of half a heart. Enemy health remains a continuous bar system.
The map screen for the dungeon has been reworked as well.
During playtesting, players sometimes lost themselves and enemies behind walls. Get lost no more! Beary and enemies are now highlighted when behind walls.
We added a reload indicator to Beary's crosshair. It will let players know when it is time to reload and when players are reloading.
The in-game inventory screen has been reworked to a weapon wheel that allows access to modifiers, weapons, and Prooves.
The final big UI change is the new modifier screen within the terminal. This new screen allows the player to view runtimes and calamities while navigating the galaxy.
There are two new enemies: Peach Bum and Rocktapus.
Peach Bum is a common low level enemy belonging to the mech faction. It will follow the player and explode within a certain radius.
Rocktapus is a low level Animal Boss. And he is here to rock out
What is Next?
We will be attending BostonFig virtually! RSVP and come check out our latest demo.
In terms of development, we are continuing to add content and organizing private internal playtests. The feedback from those playtests will determine the direction and the date that we move out of Alpha and into Beta. Stay tuned for more updates. Stay tuned for more updates.
