Hello everyone, here’s the latest dev update for Sanguo Renyizhuan.
Most of the work in August and September went into later stages of the game and system tweaks. Even though the public build hasn’t changed much, development has never really stopped.
Programming
Boss AI tweaks: Some bosses used to just stand still when the player moved too far away. That’s been fixed — now they react more actively so fights don’t stall out.
Player mobility: The player character’s movement speed has been slightly increased. I also fixed an issue in the “Water Prison” stage where underwater movement speed didn’t slow down properly. The controls should feel more consistent now, with more adjustments planned down the road.
Art
Boss assets updated: Assets for large bosses like White Tiger and Black Tortoise have been replaced. I also switched to a new packaging method, which makes them look sharper without really increasing performance costs.

Stages
Final stage in progress: The bulk of work these two months has been on the final stage. The programming side is mostly done, but the visuals and details still need polishing.

Next steps
The current priority is to finish the stage work. After that, I’ll focus on combat controls:
Charge attack hit detection: The hitbox is still a bit unreliable, so I’ll be fixing that.
Limited moveset: Some players mentioned that the main character’s attack options feel too simple and a bit outdated. My original goal was to keep that “classic” style, but I agree with the feedback — it’s 2025, I can’t just stick to the old ways forever. I already added a dodge system earlier to lower the difficulty and improve feel, and I’ll be working on making attacks more varied. The goal is to strike a balance between “classic” and “modern.” Once that’s ready, I hope you’ll give it a try and share your thoughts — I do listen!
Wrap-up
The highlights from these two months are: boss AI improvements, updated large boss assets, and progress on the final stage. Thanks again for your support — next up will be refining combat and wrapping up the final stage.
