With the release of 0.4.0 having been around a few days, we've been hard at work fixing small issues - thanks to those who reported any problems to us on our Discord.
We have been reviewing feedback on the game. Of course, we care a lot about negative reviews and one sticking point a lot of players have had is about the speed of the game:
"If build times were cut down like, 75%, it might be a bit more fun."
"An idle game with extremely long timers"
"right now the game is too slow even for me, a long time idler game lover."
"The game progression is to slow."
One way we tried to address the long waiting times was to add an active way to build up some basic resources with the introduction of Chop for Wood / Mine for Stone actions on the sawmill/quarry in 0.4:
These gain 1 resource per second per building, per click, and are upgradeable in the shop.
Having said that, whether it be experiencing a grueling attritional fight or looking to build up some demons via the blood portal, there's still a lot of potential for waiting around for stuff to finish. So... we decided to implement a new feature which is now available in today's update, 0.4.1!
Speed Up Buttons
Now you can speed up your game up to 5x, so less real-time waiting around.
Faster Loading Times
It was reported to us that the release of 0.4 had the unfortunate side effect of making the game take a while to load. It's largely due to processing all the audio so we've moved that away from the loading screen and hey presto loading is fast again! For me it's so fast I can barely see the cool new loading screen animations :(
Keyboard Shortcut Hints
With the release of 0.4 we added some useful keyboard shortcuts. I personally use them quite a lot but as they are not so obvious to new players we've added some hints. For example, Pressing t or r with a number will train / retire a unit:
Pressing space will continue dialogue:
Pressing a number with an empty tile selected will build a building:
What else?
Good question! For now, we will continue to make small-ish improvements and listen to your feedback. Bigger changes may need to wait until we can build further traction on the game, we understand players are hungry for more but we are a small 2 man team so it's not easy to do major updates at a frequent rate.
If you previously left a negative review and we've done enough to reverse your opinion then I humbly ask that you change it! With low review scores it is a big challenge for us to attract new players and grow the game into something bigger. Conversely, if you've enjoyed playing the game then a positive review will be a big help!
Any feedback can be left with us on our Discord and we'll respond.
