It's been a minute since we've posted here, but updates have been coming fairly regularly lately outside of content updates (pssst check out NuHarlem as well as all of our community maps).
Preparing for Quakecon 2026 has meant a lot of polish changes and some new features were needed, so here they are!
Features
Improved Super Items
Stealth Boots will persist into the next round, with a 10-second charge of active use. This charge is only active when crouching, walking, or standing still.
Gameplay Adjustments
Sniper Rifles are now more innacurate when not scoped, preventing the more egregious unscoped flicks.
Conc Bombs now deploy faster.
Conc Bombs now temporarily disable active flames (either environmental or molly flames)
Arsonist prevents the user from getting set on fire, though they will still take damage over time from standing in fire.
HUD/UI Improvements
Converted a lot of assets (thrown outlines, ground pickup boxes, coaching graphics, and main menu font) to a standardized high-contrast look.
Race Mode
`cv mode race` to flip a server into race mode. Note that race routes are stored on the server itself and not downloaded to the client.
Touch a backpack to select a route! Color outlines generally determine the difficulty of the route. Use the radio menu to exit an active route.
Collect all the items in the route to stop the clock! Personal best is recorded in the hud, server top scores are logged in chat (scoreboard and persistence coming soon!).
Create your own routes with the included Trenchbroom definition files, and local compilation script. Publish routes in our Discord in order to get them added to the servers!
For the next few months we'll be continuing art updates for Badblock, added map interactions, and feature upgrades for Race mode. See you at Quakecon!
