Explorers of Arhaekon,
• *This patch requires starting a new game since core game mechanics have changed. This means savegame files from previous versions will no longer be compatible with version 0.25!
Major changes & content additions:
• Redesigned the unit upgrade system. Unit upgrade requirements will now be achieved through expeditions - a new system which also required a major change in the way currency is handled.
• Expeditions' mechanics heavily rely on currency management, specifically refugee-favor balancing. This is also intended to increase the drive to both find refugees and make consistent use of altars.
• Running an expedition will trigger autosave! This is meant to prevent endless reloading of the last save and re-running the expedition until it succeeds.
Changes:
• Refugee encounters will only contain "refugees". The specific types of refugees (Clerics, Scholars, Craftsmen & Peasants) as well as the materials that could be found in such encounters are removed from the game for now.
• Ritual rites now have an additional use: to increase Expedition chances. Rituals performed in such a way will not grant any bonuses to the current formation and there is no limit to the number of rituals that can be performed/world turn.
• The two starting units have had their initial level increased to 3 (previously 1) to increase survivability and help smoothen the difficulty curve.
• Enemy units should now scale better with levels (the per-level bonuses they receive has been slightly increased across the board).
• Added 4 crafting recipes, readjusted most ingredient requirements. This is meant to recuperate some value for collectible drops (e.g. ritual rite drops that already exist in the compendium). More similar changes will follow.
• Clicking anywhere previewing looted items that can be read/previewed by right-clicking them will now close the preview - removed the close button for such widgets.
• Consumables no longer require adding to the hotbar before consuming, they can now be clicked directly within the loot widget.
• Improved readability of floating widgets when applying modifiers to formation members - through consumables or curses.
• Added floating widgets with received bonuses after performing rit.
• All region levels will now be recomputed upon opening the atlas (previously computed at the end of a turn). This change is meant to reduce discrepancies in levels and offer the possibility to reduce difficulty by abusing the average of Owned Units prior to entering a region.
• Maximum bound units reduced to 8-14 (previously 10-16) for refugee camp levels 1-5.
• Refugee camp upgrades now grant additional benefits from level 3 onwards.
• Level 5 refugee camp now grants a random additional tier 2 recruit from the types for which expedition conditions have been met.
• Slightly Reduced maximum HP value ranges for Augments to prevent ridiculous bonuses in rare occasions when the same stat was rolled multiple times with maximum values, resulting in cumulative effects (e.g. magic low-level augment granting 32% max health because of lucky cumulative max roll of 16%x2).
• Adjusted Refugee Camp, Purgatorium and Medical Ward upgrade costs ramping.
• Adjusted some tier 2 unit stats to balance for tier level translations.
• Enemy units will now be flagged with a red circle when selected to better differentiate them from allied units.
Fixes:
• Fixed graphical glitches related to floating UI elements
• Fixed consumable values not properly scaling with rarity
• Fixed container curses applying proportional debuffs instead of flat for non-percentage stats
• Fixed cases of units spawning on top of each other in battle
• Fixed AI rogues using divert while already having defended status
• Fixed wrong transferring of augment bonuses upon upgrading units to tier 2
Explore and enjoy these new features and fixes in Patch 0.25!
