Greetings, fellow men of culture (and ladies)!
It’s me again, back with the monthly saucy time. An extremely busy time of the year, but I have loads to update you on as the demo will be arriving in no time at all.
As usual, I will be answering questions down in the comment section! Be sure to show your love to Kajun-chan too. She is super thrilled about saucy time.
A close up of Kajun-chan, for your… inspiration ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), We are working on a series of cut-scenes for the demo that will also be featuring quite a few sexy closeup moments of our Kajun.
Art & Model
Kajun-chan ingame 3D model development
Kajun-chan was once a highschool girl living the best time of her life on Earth, until the Tentamon took over. She was captured, weaponized, and eventually, mutated into our mecha girl. How will she escape the TEABAG’s base camp? With those giant metal claws? It’s very much up to us to control her throughout the battle.
The in-game 3D model of Kajun-chan was intimately made down to the very small details, which required a huge effort from the team to make it all work and playable in-game. I put a lot of thought into each movement and feature so that the overall experience will be fluid, yet powerful to the player, hoping that she’ll impress you guys (●´ω｀●)
Battle concept
In the early stages of the game, many have raised the question of “Why sexy and gory?”. They haven’t seen the gory side of Shred & Tear’s main dish yet! Be really open-minded, there will be blood to shed. Kajun-chan is merciless to these Tentamon! She'll be tearing these guys apart literally!
Tentamons look cute, but they are actually rather hideous and annoying! (*´Д｀*)
Kajun-chan high poly sculpt
Kajun-chan simply deserves as many showcases as she wants. To do what? Those body-ody-ody, those bio-machines? They all need to be shown off. I personally wouldn’t stop making sculptures of her if I had the time. She is the queen of mecha waifu! ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡
The model was hand-sculpted using ZBrush & Maya.
Tentamon Builder Drone Model
From 2D to in-game 3D model. Again, Tentamons look really cute and harmless, but you have no idea what they and their species are capable of.
- They took over our homeland - Earth
- They are a hundred years AHEAD of us in warfare technology.
- Everything to them is simply either one of two things: Weapon or Bio-Energy Soup.
Repeat, Tentamons are hideous!
Kajun-chan was captured
Being held captive and turned into a deadly weapon in a nefarious plot by the Tentamons, Kajun-chan’s hands are tied…She is extremely determined to get out, using the Tentamons’ technology against them! But she’ll need your help, get ready for her, and for the sake of this planet.
Hatching chamber
Built in UE4, this is the chamber where Tentamons store their experiments, and where Kajun-chan is held. What’s better than to hit them from the inside?
Yes. Not just Kajun-chan, the Tentamons took every living creature at their best lives, to capture, to experiment on. It is called the “hatching chamber” for a reason. It is the place where evil is hatched in the form of bio-weaponized human beings. The good news is that our Kajun-chan is one of the most powerful bio-weapons ever created by the Tentamon to date.
Salumon MK II model
Inspired by some legends, the Salumon MK II’s concept is the demonstration of the first level gate boss. We’ve received a wide variety of responses from the community. Some said Mother Brain is the biological mother, some mentioned the Wall of Flesh as the twinsie ✌︎('ω')✌︎ what do you think?
The Demo version will probably have one level with about 20 minutes of gameplay, are you excited to see Salumon at the very end? No one has gotten past it, will Kajun-chan be the first to?
Squalomon
Introducing another boss, and this one is definitely rated as one of the most aggressive enemies in Shred & Tear. Unlike Salumon, this one will move, this one will hunt. It thirsts for blood and definitely is merciless. Kajun-chan must take her claws to maximum capacity, no other choice.
Speed, accuracy, and fearlessness are definitely needed! Will you have enough adrenaline to face it? I’ll save that one for later.
Animation
Kajun-chan claws
A small interview with Kajun-chan:
Interviewer: Hi Kajun, what exactly is the purpose of those claws?
Kajun-chan: I’ll shred anything (or anyone) to tears *evil smile*
She’s a hot-tempered Aries with a fistful of ten deadly blades. She is not joking. Σ（ﾟдﾟlll）
Programming
Kajun-chan Attack Combo
As the Demo version is coming up really soon, Kajun-chan will be in such a rush to get her moves mastered. Of course with those giant claws, she’ll have to optimize the swing, making sure the Tentamons are shredded like minced meat. She plans to show no mercy at all! She’s got to be ready for the big three-course meal of these tentacles!
Auto-targeting system
I originally tagged Shred & Tear as a hack n slash and fast-paced game. This ultimately ensures a non-stop and very forward-moving gameplay. While getting this in the middle of the battle, I thought it might slow the whole pace down. What do you think? It can be more precise, but it has a big effect on strategy and gameplay too.
Burst Attack
Kajun-chan is … gorgeous, and she’ll get things done in her own fashion!! The burst attack can be listed among her most aggressive moves on the Tentamons, ever. One slash, and a dozen of them are taken down. The spin is extra eye-candy… wait, not extra at all, Kajun is just being just the way she is!
