Since Deflector's release we've been seeing more of you ask how to unlock new bioshells for your use. That is understandable! And that is why we're publishing this guide. Let's go down the list of bioshells and clarify how each one can be unlocked for your use.
Name: Eradicator
Unlock condition: Begin the Deflector experiment
Eradicator is your initial bioshell. His boomerang is open to every new participant in the Deflector experiment!
Name: Slasher
Unlock condition: Learn enough about Deflector
Slasher is a short-range combat specialist. The Deflector AI will unlock access to him automatically as you are learning about the experiment. Just keep setting out on your runs and you will eventually be introduced to bioshell selection and given Slasher as a sampler.
Name: Gunslinger
Unlock condition: Defeat any Apex Virus 10 times
Gunslinger is a bioshell that lets you focus on long range. To unlock him, you need only defeat any Apex Virus 10 times. Every Apex Virus you beat counts towards that goal, so you can strike at different worlds in order, or just go on repeat runs against the one you have mastered beating consistently.
Name: Lightfist
Unlock condition: Defeat a Great Virus and an Apex Virus in the same run without using your regular attack
Lightfist is a bioshell named after her trademark weapon and unlocking her tests your ability to deflect and mastery over alternative sources of damage. Remember the condition only applies to Great Viruses and Apex Viruses, so you don't have to forgo your regular attack for the entire run - only the midboss and final boss of any one world. Still, the challenge is tricky. Remember to buff your Deflect attribute to make deflected projectiles more damaging and pay attention to your mutations. There are those that activate in response to dashing or deflecting, making them handy in clearing this challenge. You're allowed to use the active skill of your bioshell as well, so long as it doesn't require use of your regular attack.
Name: Spark
Unlock condition: Help the robot find the lost bioshell
Spark is lost at the start of the game. It will take solving a puzzle to bring her back and make her available for your use. Not to give the whole puzzle away, but start by going into Living Entrails and checking behind the waterfall of blood in the very first area you are taken to. From there you'll need to travel to different biomes until you've finally collected all the clues!
Name: Corrupted
Unlock condition: Defeat the Source
Corrupted is locked away behind the Source. Defeating it is the one condition to unlocking this bioshell. Of course that means you will need to survive all the way to the final boss and then beat it, so don't expect an easy prize.
