Chopin Airport is currently Poland’s largest airport. Named after the great Polish composer, Frédéric Chopin and located just 8 miles from the city center of Warsaw with rich history and unique architecture. It serves over 12 million passengers annually and handles over 100 international airlines.

Long story short
Starting out as an airfield built in 1918 for the military, it was first opened for commercial flights in 1927. These days it was known as Warsaw-Okęcie Airport and it was the main hub for LOT Polish Airlines until World War II when the airport was destroyed during the Siege of Warsaw. After the war, it was rebuilt, and it was officially renamed Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport in 1933.
