Hello Adventurers!
Welcome to our second Dev Log here on Steam! You can catch the first For The King II Dev Log here.
This month, we’re coming off the back of some exciting announcements, including our full roadmap for the year, the Pet Shop Update, and all of the features we’ve begun teasing for our first DLC later this quarter!
We showed the Toymaker off over on View game page just earlier this month, and good news! We’ll be going live in that exact spot later today (Aug 14), at 12pm PDT/7PM UCT, for the first major Fortune Teller and Monk gameplay reveal!
We’ve got some teasers to show off below, and some wins to celebrate, but first, let’s take a quick jump into what you might’ve missed!
Pet Shop Update
Our Pet Shop Update landed last month, introducing new functions to our furry friends in For The King II. Now you’ll not only be able to recruit new companions to aid you in your fight against the corrupt Queen, but you can also feed them, name them, and level them up!
Check out the full announcement here, then dive into the game and visit any Pet Shop available throughout the current five campaigns.
Twitch Stream
Join us later today when we go live over on IronOak Games Twitch at 12pm PDT/7pm UTC.
We'll be showing off both the Fortune Teller of the Tinkerers Of Fate character pack and the free returning character, Monk. Plus some other sneaky additions that'll be making their way to the game alongside our first DLC drop in Q3.
We’ll also have a bunch of copies of For The King II to give away for Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox, so be sure to come along if you want to secure a free copy for yourself or a future party member!
Child Of Chaos Preview
Launching in Q3 of 2025, The Child Of Chaos brings an all-new free adventure to For The King II!
Following on from the events of For The King II's base game, learn what became of Fahrul once our heroes succeeded in their mission to halt Queen Rosomon’s chaos-fueled plan.
The Child Of Chaos adventure drops for free alongside a free returning character, Monk, and the paid Character Pack, The Tinkerers Of Fate—ALL ON THE SAME DAY!
To celebrate the upcoming DLC, here are a few teasers to get you thinking about your new adventures…
Tinkerers Of Fate
The Tinkerers Of Fate character pack brings both Toymaker and Fortune Teller to the fray, but when purchasing this character pack, you won't just receive these two new characters; you’ll also receive a new Trait, Pet, Cosmetic, Merc, and two new weapon sets!
We’re also enabling DLC sharing for our paid DLC.
This means only one player in the party will need to own the DLC for all players in the party to gain access.
We, of course, hope many of you will choose to purchase the DLC to help support us here at IronOak Games, but we wanted to make it as accessible as possible where we could.
Tinkerers Of Fate will also be launching simultaneously across all platforms on the same day as our Free DLC, the Child Of Chaos Adventure DLC and Monk.
"But when can we see some of the other new and shiny inclusions?!" We hear you beckon, Adventurers.
Introducing two new additions to For The King II coming in the Tinkerers Of Fate Character Pack..
The new Pet and Cosmetic—Skelly Jelly and the Training Dummy Skin!
Skelly Jelly brings its wobblin' bones to For The King II as the pet included in the Tinkerers Of Fate DLC! This slimy cadaver will be found in Pet Shops across Fahrul for those who have the DLC enabled.
After all, aren't we all just bones wrapped inside a gelatinous, toxic cube?
The Training Dummy Skin gives our heroes the feel of real joy! Though don't spend too much time around the Woodcutter, lest they get some lumbering ideas.
You can wishlist the DLC here: For The King II: Tinkerers Of Fate
We'll have more to share from The Tinkerers Of Fate Character Pack later on today's stream and in future deep dives, so stay tuned!
Dark Carnival Monthly Top 3
Congratulations to the winners of July's Dark Carnival leaderboard!
You’ll all be found honoured throughout Fahrul as Stone Heroes for Adventurers to find brief respite while out on the road.
Want to get you and your party celebrated far and wide?
Tackle the Dark Carnival and shoot for a high score! At the end of the month, we take the top three finished run scores for both singleplayer and multiplayer, then highlight them in-game, and here in our monthly developer log, too!
