5v5 map
More players
bigger maps
more verticality
more fun
Actually, this map has existed longer than Tangled Timberline. The picture I had in mind is that of a map split in half.
On one side, a sprawling forest with a floor of blooming flowers and green grass. Birds are singing and the sun shines through a thick roof of trees.
On the other side, the beautiful forest has been corrupted. The ground is of grayish moss, the trees are crackling and groaning and the animals are changed in strange ways.
Weapons
Another big part of the updates is new weapons.
Let me tell you, we have a lot coming.
There are many weapons in different stages of development.
Do you like spell casters? Throwing spells at the enemy for huge damage? That weapon will be the first of its archetype.
Another weapon that I am especially excited about lets you launch yourself through the air. Pouncing on the enemy. It will be the start of weapons giving you additional support in form of movement.
Parkour movement
Getting up walls has always been a problem. It is a very important move, and was possible, but it felt bad and took a long time.
That is why we will add a new parkour move, the wall climb. Through it you can vertically climb up walls. Of course everybody can use it and you will be able to use it in combination with wall jumps.
General improvements
The game has been made by two people and it shows under the hood. Even tho we poured our heart and soul into it, we had to cut corners or not use the state of the art tech. Game development can get very expensive very fast. What comes to mind is that Monarchs Dawns netcode is not Server-client. There were moments where we could have changed that, but I didn’t think you wanted to wait for the demo another year. Other parts contain mechanics that were just not important enough to concentrate on. Tower shots homing in on players, a smoother animation system, monsters and minions strength increasing over time, and items with interesting effects. There is no end to it.
