Princess & Princes,
I'm Terry, Community Developer of Dear Villagers. It is my honour to speak to all the princes and princesses about our next update - Gallantry & Bartering, coming on the 13th of July!
Today, Max, Game Director of Grenaa Games, is going to show you the ideas and inspiration behind these amazing features.
New level of inter-kingdom diplomacy!
After placing the new Embassy, you will unlock the biggest new feature in this patch, the off-world missions. These missions have different rewards and require your help in one way or another.
"We are so glad that the missions are finally here, it has been a big part of our plan since day one and will be a mechanic that will evolve much more over time, eventually providing missions with unique rewards. Missions are a great way to get some use for your army while there is nothing to fight in your own realm."
Another system being introduced that is related to diplomacy is trading! It allows you to trade resources with a ruler while the relationship level has an impact on the exchange rate of goods.
While we are on the subject of trading, we might as well bring up our new world event "The traveling merchant" who will visit your kingdom regularly by offering a trade at a generous discount!
"Trading is another one of those features that we have been waiting to introduce forever and finally puts some weight on the relationship you have with the other ruler. It is heavily inspired by the trading system from the Civilization games."
Bard Prince Ramone
New Ruler - Bard Prince Ramone, an 'unpredictable' free spirit who has roamed the lands on the wings of song. Unfortunately, he’s looking to settle down and build an artistic Kingdom supporting his whims and wisdom. Ramone is focused around amonities and happiness!
"Ramone is inspired by the classical bards and jesters from medieval times, and will hopefully guide the player to focus a bit more on amenities than the other rulers."
New buildings and resources!
As you can see in the roadmap there are several new buildings in this patch. Since Embassy adds such a huge new feature in terms of diplomacy and trading, most of our time went to that, but we are happy to have time to add a new food resource in eggs to give some more variety. Eggs will also be used to make pastries in the future!
The marketplace is a great way to store resources inside towns to shorten the travel distance for workers!
Hats unlocked AFTER THE SECOND DATE!
The hats are a really fun way to make your hero stronger, and as we add more encounters over time they will play a bigger part in the game along with other items!
Personalise the coat of arms of your Kingdom!
A classic, it's just fun to be able to personalize your kingdom a bit, and we plan to make all the flags in the realm use your chosen colors in the future!
Will old saves work this time?
Old saves will work, but we recommend you start a new one for the best experience.
We finally meet!
